He lipedema is a genetic disease characterized by accumulation of fat in the extremities, being more common in the legs. It mainly affects the women, also causing pain in the affected areas. This fat is not like the common one that can affect us all and that is more related to the weight and characteristics of each person. This fat tends to be eliminated, first, with diet and physical exercise, before moving on to more aggressive treatments such as liposuction.
However, in the case of lipedema we are talking about a disease in which accumulated fat it is not reduced by diet or physical exercise. These more conservative techniques among which we also find the compression socks or the lymphatic drainage massages they help lipedema patients to reduce pain, slow down the development of the disease and lead a slightly simpler life. But in no case will it be the solution to completely cure lipedema.
Once we have been diagnosed with lipedema, the solution to definitively cure the disease is through the surgical treatments. In the first place, it should be noted that one process or another will be followed depending on the characteristics of each patient. For the most severe cases, in which the disease is more developed, the liposuction WAL it will be the most indicated.
